Bought phone from someone and it says "no service" and that the "network is restricted"?

My dad had bought a phone of one of his friends and gave it to me because I needed it. I put in my SIM card (that worked on my previous broken phone) and it says there's "no service." I've done everything I could to get rid of the whole no service thing and to get my phone to work but I just can't seem to get it. Also when I click on carrier, and click T-mobile, it says that the network is restricted.

 

Does anyone know what do do or what this means? Can this be an easy fix if I just go into the tmobile store? Thanks!

interesting.  I have had the insurace for
almost five years now and because of it I have gotten two free phone upgrades.  I went from a touchpro 2 to a HTC G2.  And just recently I was having major issues
with my GS3 and they upgraded it to a LG G3.
Neither one of the phone cost me a penny.  So I would check with them again on
this.  When I have had phone issues they
would send me a replacement phone at the drop of a hat.  I annot say anything but good aobut their
insurance.

My mom's phone just started having this issue today. Went through this forum and could not find an answer. Tried the Google disabling, no dice. Went to an Android forum where a guy said he noticed that his phone would still work with a headset, so he checked out his jack and it looked a little dirty inside. He cleaned it out and all was good. I decided to give it a shot and cleaned out her jack and it immediately started working. Might want to try that before having to replace your phone or doing a factory reset. Cuz reloading a phone is a pain. Good luck! Hope this helped.

The latest ticket I was quoted a couple days turnaround for a response / resolution.  This should have been resolved from earlier this month.  I know 9/1 is holiday so from what was told to me was sometime next week which I took as Tuesday or sometime this week.  I just find this hard to believe no one has experienced this.  Maybe no one went into those settings.  I am just confused how this error comes up and phone is functional with no problems.  Sim card was changed so it is not that.  I don't know how far it has been escalated the 2nd time, but the 1st time it was pushed up to Business Solutions, but I never spoke with them and they were supposed to call me within a week.  I ended up calling Tech Support and they were still working on it.  I did not hear anything further and had no messages from them.  I ended up calling them again this past week and old ticket lost.

Hi, I bought 2 sim cards in 2012 for travelling in the USA. Would these cards be expired, ie the number gone? As I am in another country I can't get a password sent to the phone. We are returning to USA soon for a short visit.

You would need new SIM cards and accounts.

If they are left inactive, they are closed out in about 3 months and the SIM cards wouldn't able to be reactivated.

Well if your husband didn't pay the bill and it's on payment plans the phone doesn't really belong to you.

The balance needs to be paid off.

In essence, you are using a stolen phone since wasn't paid for.

They can't repossess your phone like your bank would if your stopped paying your car loan.

Yesterday, I tried to activate it online, after the "Review and selection" page, it said:

I didn't get any text message till now. I've talked to  customer care, they told me the SIM card was activated. i don't know if the activation works, my phone has no number yet! Can someone help me?

Hi, you can go to Outlook.com to transfer contacts from iPhone to outlook on Win 8.

 

From the Home screen, select “Settings“.

Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.

If this is the first time you have setup items in this area, select “Outlook.com“. Otherwise, select “Add Account” > “Outlook.com“.

Enter your Outlook.com data in the “Email” and “Password” fields. Also give the account a description you can use to identify it. Example: “Marty’s Outlook”.

Does sending a photo by text consume LTE data?

Our family just signed up for the “Family Simple Choice Plan that gives 4 lines with unlimited text, phone, and data for $100”. Through this plan, each of our lines gets up to 2.5GB of 4G LTE data through 2015, and this automatically reverts to up to 1GB 4G LTE data per line after 1/2/2016.


Here is my question:  If I send a photo through texting, does the sending of the photo count against my LTE data usage?

tmo_sean_I:  You state that smplyunprdctble is correct in that MMS messages (pictures, video, etc) do use data.  However, you do not confirm whether MMS messages count toward our data limits.  Please comment on that aspect.  Thanks.

Is there anyway i can view 6 months old txt messages i received  from specific phone? Its for legal matters, my ex employer left the city without paying me whole week. And she just  got back. I didnt sign a contract so the txt messages are the only proof i have i was working for him

I got 3 lines and I was paying 5 installments.  2 G3 1 G4 and 2 G5 ( upgrades)  my bill is $318 every month crazy ah.  for some reason 1 of the g3 got tangle with the G4 and in order to pay that balance I got to pay the G4 too.  Yester day I spend over $600 try to fix this but your company the only thing they can say its Im sorry thats all we can do....Funny ahhh.  Im a IT specialist and I know de FACTo that its something you can fix but Why fix it??? I

can you please tell me how your familywhere is   getting my mobile numbers messed up at different locations throughout the night saying I went there at different times at different places I don't understand why you guys can't get your s*** together before I cancel you guys every time I call you guys do  problem shooting and  it gets nowhere . I'ved had my phones  for the past 9 to 10 months and I've had nothing  but p problems dropped calls calls not  going threw text msg not going threw and that's just a few things I cam go on and on and on and on with your guys s***** service I never had any problems with AT&T and Sprint maybe I should go back to them I'm still wondering why I switched to t mobile bad choice.

So my iPhone 5C home button wasn't working and I wrote assuant to make a claim. I had explained my situation and answered all the questions I needed to answer. Long story short they declined my claim. They denied me cause I put down to be honest that I had dropped my phone a long ago but it was unrelated to whats going on. To be fair i let them know. Well they sent me a letter stating they wont fix it cause i never reported any claims. But I don't understand why I would when my phone was perfectly fine and i just dropped it a few times off my bed. So anyways I called T-mobile hoping they can help me but again told me that as it is unfair I can either make a report again to have it overturned. I don't know if that is like your normal way of doing things denying people first but anyways moving on. I knew there was hardware issues going on in my phone. So idk like a few weeks later which is today my phones battery got so plumped up it tore up my LCD screen. "wow" .So I took it to the Apple store and told them the story I just told T-Mobile and Assurant and they told me we opened your phone and it was not tampered with or was out of place and the outside was immaculate they shouldn't of denied you. (Plus how can you keep denying something you never physically looked at). So anyways I think that T-Mobile and assurant didn't care about a loyal customer like me. If they would of fixed it I wouldn't of needed a whole brand new phone. Lastly Apple is shipping me out a new phone (something T-Mobile or assurant wouldn't do) I canceled my insurance cause why have it if T-Mobile  wont even fix something that I didn't even do wrong. So I am getting my new Iphone 5C from Apple tomorrow and I need to know: Do I need to let T-Mobile know of the new phone to update their system? Also I had a jump program on my phone previously which T-Mobile would not let me take advantage of because (I can not stress this even more) they wouldn't fix my phone. Since it was in fact a hardware issue and T-Mobile or T-Mobiles insurance Assurant  treated my like i wasn't worth there time or effort, I would like to know when I get my new Iphone 5C could I get jump reinstated and I upgrade to something higher? Or do I have to start all over again even tho it was T-Mobile and T-Mobiles insurance that was making a single mother struggle? I would like to know.

I have used the jump program before by going into Tmobile and doing the trade there. This last time that I did it I did it through a 3rd party store. When you use the jump program at these stores they don't check the old phone in for you they make you ship it back and wait for the credit to be wiped clean of the old phone. It would be fine but the problem that im having is that I sent the phone out with the prepaid return label on 8/12 and I still haven't seen my Tmobile account online show that it was received or cleared yet and its 9/3. Im wondering has anyone else ever used the JUMP program at a store like this and if you have how long did it take before it was cleared on your account online. I've contacted Tmobile several times and they have been no help in trying to resolve this. The prepaid labels that are provided apparently don't have a tracking number on them just a rma number. I don't want to have to pay for a LG G2 that I sent back so im hoping this will get cleared soon because im not sure what to do at this point.
