SIM Unlock your phone Requirements - iPhone 5s

All,

I have reviewed the requirements around SIM Unlock your phone

I've called customer care to request the sim unlock, and initially the agent told me that I meet all the requirements. No problem - until my request has been rejected with the following note:

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, this subscriber is not eligible to receive the unlock code at this time. In order to be eligible, the subscriber must have used the device within the last 7 days of the request being filed. Please submit a new request once this requirement is met.

While contacting the customer care department, they are now telling that I need to use my phone for a period of 7 days in a consistent way, e.g. recommending to use the phone on a daily basis.

Checking the requirements,  SIM Unlock your phone this is not mentioned there, but could be framed under "Additional restrictions may apply, please contact T-Mobile Customer Care for more details"...

Furthermore, the requirements from the customer care department are detailed out more explicitly:  used the device within the last 7 days of the request, vs. using the device in a consistent manner and daily basis in a period of 7 days of the request

Anyways, I'm wondering into what extent this information can be trusted or if additional hidden restrictions may apply that I have not been made aware of yet.

The unfortunate story is that I am living in Europe, and not returning to the USA soon. Making calls with the T-Mobile USA prepaid plan is extremely expensive, and all the calls with the customer care in the USA is costing me a fortune...

Do people have the same experience, or any tips & tricks?

Kind regards,

KJ
