We still support the Nokia 6010 I'm not actually showing any upgrades that shortened the amount of time you have for text entry. When you are in the text message box if you press the 2 key twice in quick succession does the phone recognize this as a B or as an Aa? Have you tried using the predictive text method? This method allows you to press the number associated with the letter only once even though it may me the last letter option for this key. At a text entry screen, select Options > Predictive text.
