Coverage map

I would really like to switch to T-Mobile. I almost did it. I tried a phone in my area. I found the coverage map to be accurate around where I live. It shows a mix of T-Mobile signal and partner roaming, but good coverage with one or the other. There is an issue of dropped calls when loosing one signal, but can usually reconnect on the roaming signal (sometimes need to wait briefly for the phone to switch signal). I was going to live with that, especially with the help of wifi calling.

The problem was when I took the phone to the area that I work about 40 miles from home. The coverage map shows partner roaming in the areas that I have AT&T signal. However, that whole area where I have sometimes all bars of signal with AT&T, there is no service with T-Mobile. If the phone would roam, as it should according to the map, I would have switched. I have 4 lines and will be adding 2 more. If I add them before switching carriers, the decision to switch will be harder.

Is there a way to find out if the lack of coverage is temporary? Is there normally coverage there, but maybe they were working on the towers? Again, the coverage map was accurate around where I live, but not a bit of service in that area where I work; even when I have all bars with AT&T. Where the map shows no coverage at all, I also loose AT&T signal.

I am hoping that it is supposed to roam as according to the map, and the problem will be fixed. I don't use my phone a lot at work, but I receive work related calls on it and need to have service there (not always around wifi).
