I have 2 Motorola RazR phones: (1) a magenta, which was one of the first ones available; and (2) a gold Dolce & Gabbana. The gold one is starting to "act up". The magenta one still works. Both phones are about 9 years old, so I decided it was time to buy a new phone. I do not want a smart phone. I do not want a phone with a monthly fee. My current carrier is T-Mobile and I have a "pay as you go" plan.
While I was out looking for a new phone, I was told that all carriers are phasing out their G1 phones at the end of 2015 because they're not making any money on them. Apparently, they only want to support smart phones.
Is this true? What about us folks who only want a cell phone in case of an emergency? Are we going to be forced into using a complicated smart phone?
