I'm in China for the next month and would really help if I can have the iPhone to be unlocked so that I can use it in this country.
I purchased my iPhone 5s from T-mobile on February 25, 2014, and paid in FULL.
I submitted my SIM unlock request through live chat customer service yesterday.
Today, I received an email saying that I wasn't eligible for SIM unlock.
I checked the SIM unlock requirements (DOC-1588) and confirmed that I satisfied everything EXCEPT for the part that says "You have requested no more than 2 mobile device unlock codes per line of service in the last 12 months".
The reason why I don't satisfy this is because I've already made two SIM unlock requests for this iPhone 5s in the past.
I requested the first SIM unlock request 7 days after I activated my phone (March 3, 2014). When I called T-mobile's representative at the time, I was told that I was eligible for SIM unlock since the device has been active on the T-mobile network for more than 7 days. However, my first SIM unlock request was denied because the system didn't know that I paid the device in full. Thus, I called up T-mobile's customer service again and explained the situation to put in a second SIM unlock request. However, the second SIM unlock request was also denied. After the second denial, I contacted the customer service again and was told that I had to use the device for more than 40 days in order for the device to be unlocked. Regardless, during both of the SIM unlock requests, the t-mobile representative checked my unlock eligibility and ASSURED me that I qualified for a SIM unlock. If I had been aware of the 40-days rule, I would NOT have made the unlock requests.
Finally, my third SIM unlock request (which I made yesterday) was also denied as stated above. It has been more than 40 days and I'm not sure how I can get my device to be unlocked.
Any help from T-mobile people on this forum would be greatly appreciated!
