actually no you don't... most high end devices are $650+ under the old way of doing things with subsidies.  Verizon testified in court that part of the plan is to pay back what was subsidized.

 

you put $200 down(in most cases for high end devices) and the rest is paid over your term of contract.  If you paid the ETF to move on you actually spend MORE for you phone.  We've seen and broken this down, and various news sites have broken it down, but people are too blind to see the transparency.

 

So if you want to pay $170 for 2 lines AT&T and Verizon are out, and Sprint unless you have 4 lines or more it'll be more expensive unless you drop the data.
