Has anyone observed this problem? My Galaxy Light cycles between networks. In just a few minutes it will go from LTE to 4G to 3G to Edge, and back again. Bars will change from full to few to none. At times I can be doing data over LTE, but I can't connect to make a phone call.
I think the problem is that I'm in an LTE "fringe". When I'm in more metro areas with good LTE, everything is fine. When I'm in rural areas without LTE, I'm on 2G Edge; good bars and call quality, but data's a bit slow. At my home in the suburbs, however, I don't have strong LTE and it can't decide which tower to connect to. It keeps switching back and forth from the weaker LTE tower and the stronger 2G tower -- and it drops calls if your talking at the time.
I set my phone to stop autoswitching, so it's stays on GSM only. It's great now, but data's not fast if I'm not on wifi. Battery life is much improved too.
I think T-Mo (or Samsung?) has to do a better job in the phone software with selecting networks. Get it to pick the appropriate tower and stick to it. Makes to sense to be able to do date but not have voice.
I've seen similar reports of this network switching with other phones; Galaxy, T-Moble iphones and ulocked iphones
