I am in Venezuela. My phone automatically connects to a 2G network which isn't good so only texting works while data just will not work. For a day or so the phone automatically switched over to a 4G network and I had data. But that only lasted a day and now the phone is automatically connecting to the 2G network and I cannot manually choose the other network.
T-Mobile customer service has given me information that conflicts with document "About On-Demand Data Passes" and with information on T-Mobile web site.
From web site -- Will I get the same high-speed network experience now internationally, as I do here at home in the U.S.? No. Customers will have unlimited web speeds great for web browsing and e-mail, social networking and occasional use of certain features like GPS/maps. Some applications like streaming music or video will be more difficult than when on T-Mobile’s domestic network. However, higher-speed data passes will be available for purchase when you are abroad: Single day pass: $15 for 100MB, 7 day pass: $25 for 200MB, 14 day pass: $50 for 500MB
T-Mobile customer service told me on the phone that the data pass will do nothing for me if I am in a simple choice country (which I am). She indicated that my phone will automaticaly connect to the fastest network available.
So, I know that high speed data is available, because for some reason I had it for a day or so.
Question: Will purchasing an on demand data pass for international data roaming while in a simple choice country give me the ability to connect to a high speed network? Or, will my phone continue to connect to the 2G network even if I were to buy the data pass for international data roaming?
